§ 10-136. Generally.

  • (a)

    All vehicles used for the transportation or removal of liquefied petroleum gas over the streets, alleys or public thoroughfares of the city shall be designed, constructed and operated in accordance with the published regulations for the design, construction and operation of automobiles, tank trucks and tank trailers for the transportation of liquefied petroleum gas, as defined in gas utilities docket 141, which regulations are on file in the office of the city secretary and may be examined and inspected by the public at all reasonable times.

    (b)

    All containers for hauling or transporting liquefied petroleum gas upon or over any premises or upon any street, alley or public thoroughfare within the city shall be designed, constructed and operated in a manner as required by the laws of the state and all special regulations of the railroad commission as now or hereafter promulgated in conformity with the laws of the state.

    (c)

    All tank trucks and tank trailers used for the transportation of liquefied petroleum gases within the city shall be so constructed and operated as to comply with the regulations for the design, construction and operation of automobile tank trucks and tank trailers for the transportation of liquefied petroleum gases as approved by the National Board of Fire Under-writers' and the National Fire Protection Association.

    (d)

    Any person who shall operate or cause to be operated any tank truck or tank trailer used for the purpose of transporting liquefied petroleum gas within the corporate limits of the city shall keep any such equipment in good condition at all times, and upon the development of any defect that would create a hazard to persons or property, the tank truck or tank trailer shall be removed from the streets of the city until such defects have been repaired or faulty equipment replaced. Any such tank trucks and tank trailers shall be subject to inspection by the proper authorities at any time.
