§ 6-167. Same—Abatement by city; recovery of cost.

  • (a)

    If the owner, agent or occupant shall fail or refuse to comply with the directions of the city council for the commencement or completion of any such repairs, removal or abatement as provided in section 6-166 then the mayor may cause the repairs, removal or abatement to be made either by day labor or contract at the expense and cost of such owner, agent or occupant.

    (b)

    The city may recover in any court having jurisdiction thereof from such owner, agent or occupant the reasonable costs incurred by the city, acting through its mayor, including an additional sum as attorney's fees for prosecuting such action; provided, however, that the owner, agent or occupant shall not be relieved from any penalties which may have accrued prior to the completion of the repairs, removal or abatement by the city.
