§ 6-122. Amendments.
The following amendments to the code adopted in section 6-121 are adopted and shall apply in the city:

The plumbing code adopted in section 6-121 is amended to read as follows:
"Before any person shall engage in the business of plumbing in the city, he shall obtain the proper license from the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners and deposit with the city a good and sufficient bond in the sum of twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500.00)."

Section 303, is amended to approve the following materials only:
Use of rigid P.V.C. plastic pipe for water, sewer lines and stacks shall be permissible within the corporate limits of the city.
Water service. Material for water distributing pipes and tubing shall be P.V.C. scheduled 40 plastic pipe, copper type L or M or galvanized pipe. CPVC scheduled 80 shall be allowed for hot water piping, however, no P.V.C. or CPVC shall be used where inaccessible water piping in or under floor slabs.
Sewer service. Materials for building sewer shall be vitrified clay, asbestos-cement sewer, P.V.C., cast iron and copper tube. Scheduled 40 or better P.V.C. is permissible for soil and waste piping. Residential yard line shall be SDR 35 or better. All commercial yard lines shall be scheduled 40 P.V.C. or better. All rights-of-way shall be scheduled 40 P.V.C. or vitrified clay.
Gas service. Materials used shall be corrugated stainless steel gas tube (CSST), black steel pipe and polyethylene.

Riser to the gas meter and building serviced shall be black steel pipe with a three-foot (3′) lateral wrapped in plastic or other approved material, sized according to Code, and shall have a valve to shut off the gas. Any repairs completed on gas piping system will be upgraded to Code.

Gas piping must be laid in a separate ditch with a minimum cover of twelve (12) inches and be not less than twenty-four (24) inches from any new or existing water or sewer line.
(5)
All building sewer[s] shall be inspected and approved prior to backfill. Building sewers shall be tested with at least a five-foot (5′) head of water and proved tight.
(6)
No fittings, except P.V.C., having a hub in the direction opposite to flow, or tee branch shall be used as a drainage fitting. No running threads, bands or saddles except on sewer tap shall be used in the drainage system. No drainage or vent piping shall be drilled or drilled and tapped.

The minimum size for building drains and sewers shall be four (4) inches.

In the building sewer, a double cleanout of the same nominal size as the pipe, up to four (4) inches and not less than four (4) inches for larger pipe, shall be installed at the junction of the building (house) drain. The building sewer cleanouts shall be installed at intervals not to exceed one hundred (100) feet in straight runs and shall be brought to grade in an approved manner.

The gas system test on house piping shall be made by closing all openings and subjecting the pipes to an air pressure of twenty-five (25) pounds on an air pressure gage or that supports a column of mercury ten (10) inches in height. If this column of mercury is supported by the air pressure or the pressure gage holds to twenty-five (25) pounds for a minimum of thirty (30) minutes, during periods of constant temperature, the piping shall be considered tight. A final test shall be made for final inspection. The code official may authorize an approved agency or responsible individual, that in the official's opinion, possesses the qualifications to perform the required test.

A cleanout shall be provided at or near the base of each sink and washing machine waste stack and shall be extended to an easily accessible location above flow or trap line on an outside wall.
(11)
Inaccessible water piping in or under floor slabs shall be minimum weight Type L or better copper tubing and sleeved through slab. Copper piping shall be continuous through the floor having no fittings or joints below the surface of the floor.
