§ 5-16. Fees.

Latest version.
  • (a)

    Impoundment fees. Impoundment fees shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Livestock such as cattle, horses, asses, mules, sheep, goats, thirty dollars ($30.00) per animal;

    (2)

    Fowl and rabbits, five dollars ($5.00) per animal;

    (3)

    Dogs, cats and other animals for which a specific fee is not shown, ten dollars ($10.00) per animal.

    (b)

    Board fees. Each day shall begin at 12:01 a.m. and the specified fee shall be charged for any portion of any day. Board fees shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Livestock such as cattle, horses, asses, mules, sheep, goats, ten dollars ($10.00) per day per animal;

    (2)

    Fowl and rabbits, three dollars ($3.00) per animal;

    (3)

    Dogs, cats and other animals for which a specific fee is not shown, five dollars ($5.00) per day per animal.

    (c)

    Micro-chip fee. The term "micro-chip" means the implantation of an identification chip under the skin of an animal for the purpose of identifying the animal's owner. Before any animal is adopted from the City of Fort Stockton Animal Control Department or before any impounded animal may be reclaimed from the City of Fort Stockton Animal Control Department, the owner shall pay a fifteen-dollar fee for each animal that is micro-chipped by the department plus the impoundment, boarding fees, etc. If an owner states that said animal was previously micro-chipped, sufficient evidence must be provided to animal control personnel. Any misrepresentation by the owner regarding micro-chipping of the animal shall constitute a violation.

    (d)

    Dog and cat registration. The dog and cat registration fee shall be five dollars ($5.00) per animal for all dogs and cats whether male or female and neutered or sexually intact.

    (e)

    Kennel registration. The fee for registration of a kennel shall be thirty dollars ($30.00).

    (f)

    Pet cremation services. Private and communal pet cremations are offered by animal control, the costs of these services are most greatly determined by the weight of the animal needing to be cremated. These services allow the pet owner to obtain the ashes. If the ashes are not wanted, cremation services are not necessary, although animal control personnel can dispose of the carcass.

    Private cremation: Services are completed only on Wednesday.

    Costs are as follows:

    50 lbs. and under = $75.00

    Over 50 lbs. = $120.00

    Veterinarian cremation fee: $25.00

    Communal cremation: Is also referred to as the "general" or "group" cremation. The pet's body will be handled in the same manner as in the private cremation right up to the cremation process.

    The communal cremation means that the pet will be cremated along with other pets and that the ashes will not be returned to the owner. The cost is, of course, less than the private cremation.

    Costs are as follows:

    50 lbs. and under = $50.00

    Over 50 lbs. = $90.00

    Other services to compliment the pet cremation services are available at additional charges, if so desired. Urns are available at an additional cost in a variety of sizes, styles, shapes, and colors. Animal pickup, the delivery of ashes, and the mailing of ashes are only some of the other services available.

    (g)

    Retention of fees. All fees resulting from impoundment, boarding, dog and cat registrations, kennel registrations, micro-chipping of animals, and cremation services shall be received by the city and used solely to assist in defraying enforcement expenses of this chapter.
