§ 23-4. Truck routes.

  • The city council is hereby authorized to designate major thoroughfares as truck routes and to maintain official traffic-control devices designating such thoroughfares.

    The city shall establish the following truck routes within the city. Heavy traffic shall be limited to the following state maintained highways within the city:

    • All lanes of Interstate 10 and I-10 service roads from west city limit to east city limits.

    • Business Interstate 10 or Dickinson Boulevard from east I-10 to west I-10.

    • Farm to Market Road 1053 from Dickinson Boulevard to the city limits.

    • State Highway 18 from Dickinson Boulevard to the city limits.

    • North U.S. 285 from Dickinson Boulevard to the city limits.

    • South U.S. 285 from Dickinson Boulevard to the city limits.

    • South U.S. 385 from Railroad Avenue to the city limits.

    • Railroad Avenue from Dickinson Boulevard to the city limits.

    Through truck traffic is prohibited on all city-maintained streets. If a truck originates or has a scheduled stop within the city, it would not be affected by the "no-through truck ordinance" and is allowed for loading and unloading. Trucks that originate within Fort Stockton city limits may only be parked in properly zoned areas designed for commercial truck traffic.
