§ 20-86. Zones in which permitted; location near residences; exception.

  • (a)

    Signs shall be permitted to be constructed and maintained in any location permitted by the zoning ordinance; provided, that no such structure shall be located within one hundred (100) feet of the nearest residential zone. Where a sign is built after the effective date of this chapter and the location of such sign is on or adjoining property on which a private home may be erected, the permit to erect such sign, when issued by the city, shall provide that, should a private residence be built on any lot in such a manner as to be located within one hundred (100) feet of such sign, the sign will be removed at the expiration of six (6) months.

    (b)

    Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a), any private or public business, firm or corporation may advertise at the location where such business is conducted in any manner not inconsistent with the other provisions of this chapter.
